Annual Muster
The Rhode Island Antique Fire Apparatus Society, the Rhode Island chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Appreciation of Antique Motor Fire Apparatus in America (SPAAMFAA) will be holding its 8thAnnual Antique Fire Apparatus and Equipment Show on Sunday, June 17th, 2012.
The show will run from 10:00am – 3:00pm at the Glen Farm, 250 Glen Road, Portsmouth, Rhode Island. Admission to the show is free, but donations will be accepted for the Rhode Island Pink Heals, a community organization that helps raise awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society, the Gloria Gemma Foundation, Woman and Infants Oncology, and more.
The show will consist of a display of antique motorized fire apparatus and other fire memorabilia. There will be a vehicle extrication demonstration and a Fire Safety Smoke House for children to go through. Smokey Bear and Sparky the Fire Dog are also scheduled to make an appearance during the show.
RIAFAS was founded in 2004 by 8 people with 5 antique fire trucks. Today membership is approximately 150 members with approximately 80 antique fire trucks.
Anyone with a piece of antique fire apparatus who wishes to display their apparatus in the show should contact RIAFAS Secretary Paul Salvas here for a registration form. Deadline to register for the show is Sunday, June 10th.
Hamburgers, hot dogs, & refreshments will be available and RIAFAS souvenir t-shirts and hats will be sold during the show to help raise money for the Society.
Anyone interested in joining the Rhode Island Antique Fire Apparatus Society will have the opportunity to do so at the show. NOTE: you do not have to own an antique fire truck to join, just an appreciation for them.
